B-H Analyzers
| Soft magnetic parts made of ferrite play an important role in electric components as they are used in a broad range of applications from low-frequency applications such as yokes for micromotors, to high-frequency applications such as flyback transformers, deflecting yokes, high-frequency transformers and magnetic heads. In actual operation, these magnetic parts display characteristics different from direct current magnetic characteristics or characteristics measured with an LCR meter. |

Core loss measurement
| High-frequency transformers used in switching power supplies and DC-DC converters suffer current leakage, which increases as the handled frequency increases. The causes of the leakage include hysteresis loss and eddy-current loss. The heat generated by lost current causes the temperature of the equipment to rise, making it difficult to reduce the size of equipment. Measuring core loss of soft magnetic parts provides the best solution to minimizing loss and enabling further reductions in equipment size. |
B-H curve measurement
| Rapid advances have been made in production of magnetic heads and thin-film sensors. However, no systems for measuring the B-H curve in the high-frequency domain have been available. Until now, measurement of thin-film materials has been done using DC B-H curve measurement by VSM or µ-measurement by LCR meters. The SY-8232 and SY-8217 B-H analyzers are equipped with a thin-film measurement function for use in measurement of high-frequency B-H curves of thin films. As a result, more accurate analysis of thin-film material is now possible. |
Permeability measurement
| Yoke materials used in motors, actuators and relays
are usually made of silicon steel, soft iron, permalloy and stainless
steel. However, these materials tend to cause differences in magnetic
characteristics according to the processing and heat treatment. The B-H analyzers are capable of measuring the magnetic characteristics of these parts, providing data that will facilitate improvement of these materials. In the case of ordinary ferrite cores, the B-H analyzer can measure inductance characteristics (SY-8232) and µ-characteristics. |
