USB Ver.2.0 Bus Protocol Analyzer SB-2020Measuring Method

Incorporating the Trigger and Statistical Information Functions,
the SB-2020 Significantly Improves Development Efficiency
for USB Devices.
USB Bus Analyzer SB-2020 is a protocol analyzer that captures traffic from the USB 2.0 bus to the PC, enabling intuitive analysis of streaming packets and transactions. The analyzer automatically detects three speeds (high, full, and low) and incorporates the ample 512 MB capture memory for supporting fast large data.

1 User-friendly transaction display allows for easy understanding of USB communications.
2 Trigger function
Packets and transactions can be combined. In addition, up to 16 sequential triggers as well as when to start and stop logging can be set. A mark is provided at each generated trigger position for easy comprehension of USB device operations.
Trigger setting screen
A pre-trigger size can be set in the built-in buffer memory if the start of logging has been specified as a trigger condition. This makes verification of log data more efficient.

3 Debug efficiency has been improved with the mark & jump function.
4 Display of communication speed
Determine at a glance communication speed for each transaction.

5 Bus state display
Recording and displaying the states of USB device (RESET/SUSPEND/DISCONNECT) allows for confirmation of events generated by insertion and removal of USB device.
The time can be displayed for bus reset (in ms units).
6 High-precision time measurement
The resolution for the elapsed time has been improved to 16.7 ns. Packet time measurement confirmation possible at all speeds (high, full, and low).
7 Translation display function enhanced
The following translations are displayed.
  • Compatible with the following device requests
Standard device requests (CLEAR_FEATURE, SET_FEATURE, SET_ADDRESS, GET_DESCRIPTOR, SET_DESCRIPTOR, GET_STATUS, GET_CONFIGURATION, SET_CONFIGURATION, GET_INTERFACE, SET_INTERFACE, SYNCH_FRAME), HUB class specific, HID class specific, Audio class specific, Communication class specific, Mass Storage/Bulk-Only Transport specific, Printer class specific, USBTMC class specific
  • Compatible with the following descriptors
Standard descriptors (Device Descriptor, Configuration Descriptor, Interface Descriptor, Endpoint Descriptor, String Descriptor, Device Qualifier Descriptor, Other Speed Configuration Descriptor, Interface Power Descriptor, Interface Association Descriptor, Debug Descriptor, OTG Descriptor), HID class, HUB class, Audio class, Communication class
  • Compatible with the following device class-specific commands
Mass Storage/Bulk-Only Transport commands (full support of SubClass Code = 05H, SFF-8070i; and SubClass Code = 06H, SCSI transparent command set)
Furthermore, specifying the class allows translations to be displayed, even in the case of log data which does not have the USB device class information.

Filter

The SB-2020 has two filters: real-time and offline. With the real-time filter, target packets or transactions are captured online, while with the offline filter, packets or transactions are selected from saved data for display. Combining these two filters allows recording, saving, and analyzing only the required data, thus improving development efficiency.

Search function

The SB-2020 assists development and verification environments with a variety of search criteria, such as specific packet/transaction, address, endpoint, data value and SOF number.

Statistical information

Statistical information for each address/endpoint can be confirmed using the USB bus communication status.

Considerable expansion of recording capacity

Figure of log-data save Log data of up to 20 GB (10 files of 2 GB) can be sequentially saved. It is needless to say that there are no data drops between windows.

Data export function

The obtained log data can be output in a file in text, CSV, or binary format.
