Power electronics measurement

Contributions to power measurement
Utilized in various situations

Great success in development and manufacturing of electronic power elements

Isolation systems

Have you ever measured high-voltage waveforms such as:
  • Those of upper and lower arms of an inverter
  • Those of an electrical power converter (The primary reference potential differs from the secondary one.)
  • Surge waveforms of a remote power switch
by applying one of the following methods?

  • Dangerous measurement with a floated, or ungrounded, oscilloscope
  • Differential measurement using a turbulent waveform

We suggest isolation systems as solutions for measuring high-voltage waveforms.

Applications of the IE-1162 to inverters

Useful during continuous operation of IGBTs.
Connection example
Standalone gate control is possible.
The figure above shows a connection example of driving a three-phase motor by using an IE-1162 delay generator.
Settings of the IE-1162 can be easily changed from a connected PC, strongly helping investigation of inverters and evaluation of parts.

The figure to the right shows a setting screen.

Function provided for simultaneously changing pulse delays on all channels
The function keeps elements from being damaged by through current.
Even if pulse widths are changed when the IE-1162 is applied to an inverter, the upper and lower elements do not switch on at the same time. This keeps elements from being damaged by through current.

The figure to the right shows an example of output waveforms.

Evaluate elements with OR output of IE-1162

Up to 6 continuous pulses, besides double pulses and triple pulses, can be output.
OR output terminal
Arbitrary pulse widths and pulse intervals can be set for the IE-1162 delay generator.
Up to 6 continuous pulses can be output by using OR output, besides double pulses and triple pulses. This allows free evaluation of a standalone power element.

This waveform is continuously output, but the trigger oscillation mode allows a single pulse to be output.

PWM control performed with a combination of an IE-1162 and an SG-4115

Connection example and example of output waveforms
The combination is suitable for determining the optimum conditions for PWM modulation control of the inverter.
The above figure is a connection example where the IE-1162 delay generator and the SG-4115 signal generator with a modulation function are combined for inputting PWM controlled signals to the driver circuit.
The SG-4115 features an arbitrary waveform function, which enables arbitrary PWM control.
The figure shows an example of output waveforms.

The upper two waveforms show PWM output of the SG-4115 signal generator and the lower two waveforms show the output waveforms of the IE-1162 delay generator used as gate signals of the signal generator.

IE-1163 6-channel differential amplifier

This eliminates wasted time and protects operators from the risk of touching high-voltage areas.
Connection example
Simultaneous connection of the floating voltage is available.
Connecting a probe in advance by using the IE-1163 differential amplifier eliminates wasted time and protects operators from the risk of touching high-voltage areas.
Select a channel from the PC for outputting a waveform from the differential amplifier.

Power calculation software

Various parameters such as dI/dt, Eon, and Ice at the time of power-on and dV/dt, Eoff, and Vce at the time of power-off can be automatically calculated and a current probe can be calibrated (current/time).
This software can be customized according to the requirements of individual customers. Consult us for details.
